Holiday Movies to Watch this Christmas Season

I don’t think I have ever met a single person who doesn’t like any holiday movies. My absolute favorite thing to do is to cuddle up in my pajamas and some warm, fuzzy blankets while sipping hot cocoa (with marshmallows of course), light some festive holiday candles, and watch my favorite holiday films!

Get yourselves ready for a movie marathon, because for Blogmas Day 3, here comes a list of my all-time favorite holiday movies! (With some amazing newer ones included too!)

A Christmas Prince

Royals at Christmas? Check. A riveting love story? Check. An adorable little sister? Check! This movie really has it all! When a writer from The Big Apple travels to the small country of Aldovia to cover the crowning of a new king, things go a little off kilter.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

This amazing sequel to “A Christmas Prince” came out just two days ago and I love it so much I’ve already seen it 3 times! Continuing on Amber’s journey with her new king, we travel with her through the ups and downs of planning a royal wedding at Christmastime, when the country is having troubles of its own!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Yes, I know. Everyone and their mother has seen this movie… but you have to admit, it’s a CLASSIC! An outcast Grinch finds the true meaning of Christmas with the help of a little girl named Cindy Lou Who and his loyal pup!

The Princess Switch

Here’s another new Netflix original to cozy up to. In this holiday film a young woman from Chicago accidentally bumps into her doppelganger, a duchess! They decide to switch places and I’ll bet you guessed… There’s a plot twist! Fall in love with this romantic Christmas movie that will have you bursting out laughing and warm your heart.

The Santa Clause (1, 2, & 3)

These are my absolute FAVORITE holiday films to watch!!! They are funny, witty, and beautifully well written. They really put you in the Christmas spirit!

“Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

“SANTA! Oh my God! Santa’s coming! I know him! I know him!”

“We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup”

…..Need I say more?

The Polar Express

Hands-down the best part of this movie is Josh Groban’s ‘Believe’. Or, if you want to talk about the actual film, I guess you could say the best part is when he can finally hear the bell and he really believes in the magic of Christmas.

Frosty the Snowman

This was honestly my childhood at Christmas. I absolutely loved this movie! What is not to love about a fun, talking snowman?!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

This movie was another classic from my childhood! I always loved watching Rudolph and Clarice’s innocent romance and adventure!

What are your favorite holiday movies? Let me know in the comments below!

Stocking Stuffers for Her

To start things off, here is a list of stocking stuffers for when you just don’t know what to get that special lady in your life. These are for when you want to give something other than chocolate (which is always an amazing idea, I definitely would not complain if I received some Lindt Lindor Truffles in my stocking!) Hang tight, because here are my top 7 recommendations for fun stocking stuffers for her!

1. Mini Hempz Lotions

These lotions smell AMAZING, make your hands smell absolutely delicious, and leave your hands feeling so so soft! My favorite scents for this holiday season are Tahitian Vanilla and Ginger, Milk and Honey, and their new holiday kits with three scents in it! (The scents are Candy Cane Crush, Toffee Butter Creme, and Cherry Cheesecake.)

2. Sheet Masks

Sheet masks have been the great love of anyone who is into skincare and also into ease and simplicity. I know I love them! I use a face mask (whether sheet mask or other) at least 1-2 times per week, usually more! These GlamGlow Bubble Masks bubble up on your face a few minutes after you put them on, so they are amazing for your skin and super fun too!

3. Makeup Wipes

I don’t know about you guys, but I always have makeup wipes, some more makeup wipes, and then some back-up makeup wipes too. I love to keep these stocked, because every night I use a makeup wipe to remove my makeup before cleansing my face. My favorites are these two from the brand ‘Yes To’. They are the Coconut and the Tomato infused wipes.

4. Rollerball Perfumes

Mini perfumes are wonderful to receive as gifts. Whether you are gifting a scent that they love, or one that they have never had before, you really can’t go wrong! I love to keep a rollerball in every purse/bag I have so that I can always refresh my scent throughout the day!

5. Nail Polish

Nail polish is always a good go-to for me if I am not sure what to get someone! Pictured are three colors that are perfect for Christmas! Here is a beautiful cherry red, a shimmering emerald green, and a neutral tone.

6. A Beauty Blender

If the person you are getting this gift for is a makeup lover, a beauty blender is a wonderful idea! A beauty blender blends your base makeup (foundation and concealer) seamlessly. An amazing dupe for the beauty blender is the Real Techniques Blending Sponge. It it slightly bigger than the beauty blender, does just as good of a job, and is a ton cheaper!

7. Essential Oils

Essential oils are so versatile and useful! You can add them to your baths, use them to boost your mood, diffuse them into the air, or use them as a natural perfume. It is important to know how to properly use essential oils so you don’t cause any harm to yourself. When properly used they can be extremely beneficial!

Thank you all so much for reading and I hope I was able to help you come up with some stocking stuffers for the special girl in your life!

Perk Up Buttercup: Self Care Ideas

1. Take A Bath!

Get yourself some big bubbles and take yourself a bubble bath! I also enjoy using bath salts and bath bombs. (Gorgeous smells and insta-worthy colorful swirls? YES PLEASE!)

Candles are an absolute must! What’s better than the soft ambiance of a warm, flickering candle? I think nothing.

After a long day, the best thing I have found to possibly do in the bath is to completely relax your body. Start with your toes and slowly work your way up your body relaxing each part as you go.

I also LOVE to bring a book into the bathtub and lose myself in it for the duration. However, to each their own, I have also set up a movie on my laptop at an angle that I could watch from the tub.

2. Give Yourself A Massage

Put a pump or two of sweet smelling lotion on your hands and get the kinks out of your neck and shoulders. You can also massage your legs. I enjoy using a muscle relaxing therapy gel as well!

3. Oxygenate

Inhale Deeply

Hold that breath for a few seconds.

Repeat X3

4. Splurge A Little

Take that old gift card that’s been sitting in your wallet since Christmas 3 years ago or the spare change from your piggy pank and treat yourself on some small luxury that you normally wouldn’t get for yourself.

5. Pamper Yourself

Do a face mask! Either use one you have or make one yourself!

MANI-PEDI! Paint your fingers, paint your toes, watch Netflix while they dry and then go on feeling great and put together.

6. Check It Off

Check off and complete that task that has been lingering on your to-do list for forever. When it is finally done you will feel SOOO much better and plus, checking things off of your to-do list always makes a person feel very accomplished.

7. Take A Well-Deserved Nap

June Bullet Journal Set-Up: Ladybugs

Hello! June is right around the corner, so I thought I would share my June Bullet Journal Set-Up with you! For this month, I chose to use the theme of Ladybugs! As per the usual, I kept the layout mostly black and white, with red as my accent color!

Cover Page

cover page

My June cover page is comprised of a quote on the left page reading, “and at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair should be messy, and your eyes sparkling.” This is made up of a few different fonts with red as an accent. The page on the right tells us what month it is! I chose to do a flourish embellished with dots. It has black and white flowers on top of it and a red and black ladybug on top. The month of June is written underneath the flourish.

Monthly Layout

monthly layout

My monthly layout uses the same general grid as usual, with red as the background color for the days of the week. As you can see, I have not filled in many of the days yet, but I will do that later. I wrote “June” across the top in calligraphy accented in red. on the top left of the grid, I drew two ladybugs facing each other with a heart in between them.

Weekly Layouts

weekly 1

This month, I decided to include all of the weekly layouts that I drew for the month. The placement of the ladybug(s) and hearts are different for each week! My weekly layouts are a bit different this month with a calendar of the week across the top of the two pages, my weekly blogging planner on the bottom of the left page, and the dates for that week on the bottom of the right page.

My Secrets to Looking Bangin’ on a Budget

When I was still fairly young, my parents paid for me to take a certification course for babysitters. Afterwards, they helped me to find some families who were in need of babysitters. Once I had some money set aside from babysitting, I started to be in charge of buying my own clothing.

I have a dress-code at the school I go to, as I always have in the past. So at the beginning of each school year my parents and I would go shopping for a few pairs of pants and a few shirts which they paid for. They always replaced these basics if something happened to them and they also paid for one good pair of running shoes for me and for any undergarments I needed.

However, any excess clothing that I wanted (or, more likely, thought I needed at the time) I was in charge of purchasing for myself with the money that I had earned. At this point, I will be living on my own soon and I have found that the lessons learned through earning money and purchasing any extras I wanted have helped me greatly. I am about to share with you some of the things that I have learned through my years of budget shopping.

This is an app that I have been using for YEARS. I have it on my iphone, and you can also look it up online. Through this app you can get coupons, promo codes, be notified of online sales, and that is just the beginning!!

Thrift Stores

thrift store

I absolutely love going thrift store shopping. Thrift stores are a great place to find lightly used clothing of any type, for a fraction of the cost. My absolute FAVORITE pair of jeans from Express are from Goodwill! They were already broken in just enough to be completely comfortable. I also love to go to thrift stores and purchase clothing to perform my own DIY projects on!

Google Search

google search

Another simple ways to find coupons and discounts is to simply search for them online! Just search for the place you are shopping, and type “discount” or “promo code” at the end.

Do You Really Need It?

do you need it

One of my biggest tips is not to buy something simply because it is on sale. I am guilty of this as well, but I see a lot of people going online or walking into a store and seeing a sale. When they see this sale they immediately go to that section and rationalize that they “need” something, only to find that they never wear it when they get home! It simply hangs in their closets and gathers dust, all because it was on sale! When you are in the process of purchasing something, make sure you really need it or love it.

Take Care of Your Clothes!

price per wear

Think of the clothing you already have as money on a hanger. If something needs to be dry cleaned, DO NOT machine wash it! As for sweaters, wash them on a delicate cycle and then hang them to dry so that they do not shrink. Take care of the clothes in your possession, and they will last longer. Price per wear is everything.

I hope this little guide helped those of you who want or have to shop on a budget! I am thinking about doing a series of posts on thrift store DIY projects. What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

5 Delightfully Simple DIY Valentine’s Day Gifts

Valentine’s Day can be extremely stressful. This stress can be caused by not knowing what to gift your special someone, not knowing what to give a friend for “galentine’s day”, or even just from the person meant for your not being in your life quite yet.

I have compiled a modest list of five Do-It-Yourself valentine’s gifts for anyone you are looking to give a gift to. These gifts are sweet, simple, and all but one use minimal supplies. Supplies that you probably already have in your house!

Read on for instructions on these five gifts.

1. An Adorable Card

This card is cute and affordable. I simply took a piece of paper and folded it in half. Next, I printed out a world map and cut it into the shape of a heart. Then I cut a strip off of another piece of paper and stamped the words, “You mean the world to me”, on it. On the inside you can write whatever message you want to the person you are giving the card to!

2. A Year of Date Nights

year of dates

This idea is a bit more complicated than the last. I took three sheets of pink paper (you can choose whichever paper you’d like), and cut them into quarters. This gave me twelve smaller pieces of paper, one for each month of the year. On these papers I wrote twelve ideas for date nights that I came up with. This can be the end of this project, or you can do as I’ve done and decorate them with washi tape, drawings, and stickers. Choose one date night for each month of the year to remind you to make time for that special someone!

3. 52 Reasons Why I Love You

52 reasons

For this gift, all you need is a deck of cards, paper, glue, and markers. First, I cut the paper into a size that would fit on the cards, then I glued it on. After that, all you have to do is write one reason why you love that special someone on each card! As you can see, I also jazzed mine up with some washi tape again.

4. Bath Bombs

For my fourth DIY gift, I chose homemade bath bombs. I have included my favorite recipe below.

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/4 cup epsom salt
  • 1/4 cup citric acid
  • 3-4 tsp. coconut oil
  • 1-2 tsp. water
  • 1 tsp. essential oil
  • Food coloring (Just a few drops. This is optional.)

Combine all of the dry ingredients in a bowl. Warm the coconut oil in microwave and stir in the food coloring. Gradually add wet ingredients to the mixture of dry ingredients, mixing with hands as you combine them. (I suggest wearing gloves.)

After thoroughly mixed, firmly press the mixture into molds. Put the bath bombs, still in the molds, into the freezer for 20 minutes. Remove from molds and place back into the freezer overnight.

You can package them the next morning. This recipe makes about two beautiful bath bombs.

5. Love Letter

Love letter

Throw it back and write your love a good, old-fashioned love letter! This one is pretty self explanatory. Just grab yourself a piece of paper (any type will work), click your pen and get writing. I have rolled mine and tied it with a piece of ribbon in lieu of an envelope.

Have an amazing time making these five DIY gifts for your valentine this year. Or just skip the whole Valentine’s Day thing and make the bath bombs for yourself! A Valentine’s Day/Date Night inspired lookbook will be coming later in the week, so keep an eye out!
